Welcome to The Creative Journey Studio! I'm Christie, the artist and educator behind the studio, and I'm so glad you're here.
For 27 years, I've had the privilege of teaching children and helping them discover the joy of creating.
Why I Created The Creative Journey Studio
I created this studio to give young artists a place to explore, experiment and grow beyond the traditional classroom. My goal is to provide thoughtful instruction, exciting materials and plenty of inspiration while giving children the freedom to develop their own ideas and artistic voices.
My Approach
I believe every child can be an artist. Art isn't about creating a perfect picture or making something that looks exactly like a teacher's example. It's about trying something new, solving creative problems, making choices and discovering what happens along the way.
My classes combine skill-building and artistic exploration. Students learn about artists, techniques, materials and the elements of art while having opportunities to experiment and make thier work uniquely their own.
Most importantly, I want children to feel that the art studio is a place where they can be curious, take creative risks and have fun.
An Educator at Heart
I bring almost three decades of experience working with children and a strong background in both education and art.
I hold a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and K-12 Art Education certification.
My years of experience teaching elementary students have shaped the way I approach art education. I understand that children learn and create in different ways, and I design experiences that are engaging, age-appropriate and challenging without taking away the joy of creating.
Why "The Creative Journey"?
I chose the name because I believe there is no single destination in art. Every new skill, experiment, discovery and even unexpected mistake becomes part of the journey.
Whether we're painting, sculpting, drawing, designing or exploring the work of a favorite artist, my hope is that students leave with more than something they made. I want them to leave with new skills, greater confidence and a genuine joy for creating.
